L’Oreal on Youtube

by 2likeit

It’s reported that YouTube and L’Oreal Paris have teamed up to create a new video channel that aims to be a one-stop shop for fans of the most popular video bloggers in the beauty space.

The channel, Destination Beauty, is part of a year-long program that will feature content from partners like makeup tutorial phenom Lauren Luke, makeup artist Kandee Johnson, and Seventeen Magazine.

While L’Oreal products will be featured in the videos, Destination Beauty partners will not be limited exclusively to L’Oreal brands.

“What makes this partnership so special is that (L’Oreal) understands that people are looking for tips regardless of whether they’re L’Oreal products or not,” Olohan said.

For its part, L’Oreal says video bloggers in the beauty space are much more accessible to everyday women than magazines because bloggers actually demonstrate how to put looks together. And while L’Oreal says it has sent products to the content providers, inclusion is at their discretion.

Olohan concedes there are lots of other sites to choose from when looking for beauty content online, but he also says Destination Beauty has one distinct advantage here: The sheer scale of the YouTube audience.

The ultimate auto accessory!

by 2likeit

Cars are not really seen as been something a woman is interested in but most woman drive and want to look good in their vehicle? Woman also like to have extra money left over to do the things they stereotypically love such as shopping so it’s important for them to have an economical vehicle, especially in the current climate.

Most ladies also don’t like waiting so speed is an issue that will be considered.

Did you know the world’s fastest hybrid car is capable of 187miles per hour?

Well, it’s true. The Frazer Nash Namir is the first of the hybrid electric supercars.

The car is a two-seater sports car in the true tradition of sports supercars in all but its power source. Not really practical for a woman with a family but for a business woman who wants to turn heads this could be a smarter idea than the hairdresser car, Audi TT?

Based in Surrey, the Frazer Nash car company has been involved in the design and development of hybrid and electric motoring technology for the past 15 years.

The Frazer-Nash Namir sport car is undoubtedly cutting edge and the ultimate accessory that will turn other woman’s heads and men’s too. But what makes it really interesting is the extent to which is reveals the future for the more “ordinary” motorists among us. In other words, if even the cutting edge technology supercars are going down the green hybrid route – then it seems only a matter of time before most other cars follow suit.

The Namir accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 3.5 seconds, and can reach 124 mph in just 10.4 seconds.

The Frazer Nash Namir’s hybrid powertrain system combines a rotary engine and generator with four electric motors, one for each wheel, giving its superb performance whilst still managing an incredible 39km per litre of fuel and CO2 emissions of less than 60 grams per km.

Not every woman wants a car that is fast and looks good though. For woman who have a family then space is a factor to consider in buying a new car. The best family car for the teenies, or whatever the decade we’re now in will end up being called, are undoubtedly the various hybrid options available. They’re environmentally friendly, they’re dropping in price and, of course, their fuel consumption figures are steadily re-writing the record books.

Looking After Your Walking Boots

by 2likeit

Despite how robust they may appear, even the Best Walking Boots will not look after themselves; it is important that you look after them with attentive care to make sure their lifetime is maximised.

When you get in from a day in your boots, don’t just leave them to be cleaned at another time; it is highly beneficial for you to get it over with and clean them as soon as possible. Do this with warm water and a brush, going between all the crevices to remove all the dirt. Especially if you have leather boots, you will find yourself exerting effort to remove the mud. Don’t just do the outside though, make sure the inside is cleaned also.

To dry your boots, do not leave it in heat as this can cause leather to crack and even change the shape of the boot. Doing this would make it much less durable and more uncomfortable. The best way of doing this would be leaving it to air dry and rolling up newspaper to place inside, soaking up the moisture.

Surprisingly, your Walking Boots can lose their level of waterproofness but there are ways to prevent this. After your boots have dried, apply a waterproofing product to your boot.

Leather boots should be using oil based products. There are many varieties of them available and are generally useful for keeping them supple and breathable. Nubuck is especially high maintenance so it is required to have a nubuck specific cleaning product. For synthetic materials, silicon is the best product for keeping them clean and reasonably waterproof.

What your car says about you

by 2likeit

Apparently, the old cliché is true; your car actually does say a lot about you and your fundamental human nature – and there you were thinking it was all about picking the best family car based on its headroom and mpg figures!

Well; not a bit of it! Apparently, it’s all in the subconscious you see, so even if you think you’re being terribly logical in your car choice – you probably aren’t. Instead, you’re being true to your fundamental inner nature – you just aren’t aware of it.

Nowhere is this more contentious than in the fundamental difference between the sexes. While women are nest-makers, men, it is said, possess a ceaseless desire for freedom. Consequently – many men make women feel insecure while women make men feel trapped and we all try and compensate in our car choices. Hey – don’t shoot me for this sexism; I’m just the messenger here!

So, for example, where a woman may choose a safe and cosy “nest” of a car which also ranks very highly in the safe and secure stakes, men are more likely to pick a gas-guzzling monster 4×4, for example – as their inner nature would like to be driving a tank into battle, or a two-seater open top sports car which is all about selfishness and attracting a mate; albeit temporarily.

For men, cars are an iconic status symbol. For women – they’re a means of transport for themselves and the people they care for.

This kind of thing explains why women have fewer accidents on the road than men, of course; they’re calmer and more safety-conscious, on the whole…

You see, everything about these kinds of generalisations is based on the majority. There are always exceptions.

So how do you safely drive a car that doesn’t reveal your inner-most subconscious thoughts and feelings to the world? That’s easy; question yourself about exactly why you really want the car you currently desire. What kind of image are you hoping it will create in the eyes of others?

Then … simply go out and buy a hybrid car to let the world know you’re the clean, green and caring type; that will really impress members of the opposite sex!

How To Use A Spirit Level

by 2likeit

A spirit level (or bubble level) is used to test whether a surface, or anything you are constructing or installing, is completely horizontal or vertical. When putting up shelving, tiling a wall or erecting a fence, you need to make sure you are working in a straight line. If you don’t, the money you’ve invested in your lovely new living room sofas and dining room furniture will be wasted as guests spend all of their time at your humble abode talking about the uneven and tilted nature of your room!

When bricklaying, you can ensure your bricks are of an even level. Hold the spirit level against the front of all of the bricks. If all of them touch the spirit level, then you know they are level.

It is usually made from aluminium containing a glass tube or several vials filled with a liquid spirit. There is a bubble in the tube which moves towards the centre of the tube when it is placed on a flat surface. If the bubble moves to rest between two lines drawn across the centre of the tube, then this means it is lying completely flat. Longer spirit levels are always going to provide a more accurate reading.

The spirit level is a useful tool which is incredibly easy to use and well worth investing in. To use, hold the spirit level up against the surface you are using or whatever it is you are installing. If you are holding the spirit level straight, the bubble will come to rest in between the two lines drawn across the centre.

After taking that reading, turn the level around the opposite way and take the reading again. It should read exactly the same as before.

Glamping: Fashionable Camping for The Modern Day

by 2likeit

Blame Kate Moss and Glastonbury – glamping (or glamorous camping) is all the rage this year. It may be anathema to the purists but for anyone wanting the benefits of the great outdoors with none of the hardships, glamping is a godsend. Forget about damp sleeping bags, muddy camping mats and baked beans, glamping can be every bit as comfortable (or dare I say luxurious) as any boutique hotel.

Cooking on a camping holiday need no longer involve heating up a tin of soup or baked beans on the most basic of camping equipment. Some glamping locations provide cooking carts which look rather like an Aga on wheels with power provided by a wood burner which also heats water (presumably so that you can do the washing-up in your granite sink). Kitchen equipment is provided in bucketloads and extends to luxuries such as coffee grinder and glasses and ice buckets for your champagne. If you don’t fancy cooking, home cooked meals can often be delivered and if you can’t be bothered shopping then order a hamper which can be tailor made to suit your requirements.

There was a time when campers came home dirty. Then came queuing for the communal shower block. Glamping, however, means that you will have your own shower tent, flushing toilet and sometimes even your own hot tub under the stars.

When it comes to sleeping, no expense is spared with handmade four poster beds de rigueur in some locations. Forgotten the sleeping bag? Don’t worry since goose down duvets, Egyptian cotton sheets and feather pillows are provided too.

If a tent, however posh, is not for you then yurts and tepees are also available in various parts of the UK.

As you might imagine, glamping does not come cheap. Expect to pay around £600 for a high season 3 night weekend and £700 for a high season 4 night mid week stay. Prices are significantly cheaper out of peak season.
