Retro Hair Style

January 16, 2010 · Leave a Comment

As we see, It became very fashionably recently to follow retro style in hairstyles evening. Celebrities and models wear hairstyles and makeup in the style of the past.

If you also want to look stylish it’s easy. All what you need is certain curlers, hair pins, and hair strong fixation and pencil for eyes, shadows and mascara as well.

In fact, most of the curly hairdos of the ‘30’s and ‘40’s were done exclusively with pin curls. Perms were even done with pin curls in those years. The ringlets of the 19th century were created with rags. Either curling method is more comfortable than sleeping on rollers.

Both pin curls and rags work best when used on slightly damp hair that has had a light application of setting gel. Too much setting gel will make it difficult to comb the hair when styling. If the hair is too wet, it will take too long to dry.

To make pin curls, first make sure your bobby pins have plastic tips. These sometimes fall off older pins. If the pins do not have plastic tips, you are likely to scratch your scalp or damage your hair when inserting them.

Now, section off a small amount of hair. Comb it free of any tangles. Grasp the hair at the scalp, and wind it around your finger as if making a tiny bun. Try not to twist the hair as you do this. When the entire strand is wound, slide it off your finger and hold it in place against the scalp with your fingers. Secure it with a bobby pin across the center of it. Place another bobby pin over the curl perpendicular to the first pin. If the pins won’t fit easily over the pin curl, then you have used too much hair and will have to try again with a smaller strand.

Continue to make these curls in rows around the back of the head. Thin hair may require only one row of pin curls around the nape of the neck. Most hair will require two or more rows. Make sure they are wound in the same direction, for example, toward the face. Keep the rows tidy and make the pin curls the same size for best results.

It is not necessary, but if you like, cover the head with a large hairnet or a kerchief tied in the front. Leave the pin curls in overnight. They must have ample time to dry thoroughly. You may also use an old-fashioned bonnet style hair dryer.

When the hair is completely dry, take out the pins. To style the curls, gently use a comb. If you brush these curls, they will get very fluffy, but if you gently shape them with a comb, the waves should line up perfectly. Like any other skill, making pin curl hair-dos requires practice and experimentation.

To make rag curlers, tear an old sheet or other soft cloth into strips. These strips can be from 1 to 5 inches wide and from 8 to 18 inches long, depending on the type of curls desired. The narrower the rag, the tighter the curl will be. Regular curls can be made with 8-inch long rags, but longer ones are needed for long ringlets.

To use rags like regular curlers, section off a strand of hair. Grasp the end of the strand with the center of the rag folded over it. Curl the strand around the rag to the underneath. The tricky part is to get the ends smooth. It may also take some practice to get the hair rolled up so that it won’t come out. When you reach the scalp, tie the loose ends of the rag on top. If you make a hard knot, you will probably have to cut the rags off in the morning. To reuse the rags, make a tight but simple knot that you will be able to untie. Once over and under will hold all night if you pull it tight, or you can tie a bow to be sure.

Repeat this method around the head. Make several layers of curls if the hair is thick or long. If you’re trying this on a little girl, make sure you take a picture of her with her hair up in rags, because she’ll look really cute! A full head of long hair can take as many as 40 or 50 rag strips. With thin, shorter hair, 12 might do it.

In the morning, when the hair is completely dry, take out the rags. As with pin curls, the curls will need to be styled gently with a comb. If there is simply too much curl, try gathering it into a lovely fluffy ponytail.

Long Victorian ringlets require a slightly different rag method. Use a long strip. With the center of the strip at the base of the curl and half laid over the head to be used later, begin to wind the hair around the rag in a spiral. When you reach the end of the hair, begin to wind the reserved portion of the rag around the curl, covering it completely. You may need an extra pair of hands to accomplish this. At the bottom of the curl, tie the rag ends, or secure it with an elastic band. It should resemble a rag sausage hanging from your scalp. Continue this method of curling around the head. When the hair is dry, take the rags out carefully, and gently arrange the ringlets.

Though time-consuming, curling hair with rags or bobby pins is inexpensive and does not cause heat damage to the hair like curling irons, blow dryers, or heated rollers can. In addition, when you need to create a historic hair-do, these methods will do an accurate job.

The young chap started to gather key-wound pocket watches. After his death the company was taken over by his sons to keep up the image of the company. The image of the company had become well reputed due to the early collection of watches released. The collection included Calibers, Gurzelen and Louis Brandt & Frere. The watch company is known to introduce the first minute-repeater.

In 1909, the watch company stood up against the competitors. The brand of watches was brought closer to the sports world. So much so, that they got chosen as the official timekeeper at the 21 Olympic Games. The watches by the name of Speed Master were invented by Omega which created a huge thump in the industry. The watches were so finely made that they were chosen by NASA as their official chronometer. The watches in the early days had grasped the attention of US Army and British Royals and they felt proud to possess them. In 1974, Omega’s Marine Chronometer 2004 and in 1999, co-axial escapement watches had made their way in the market. Other famous watches are Ladies Quartz, Sea master Professional, Automatic, Constellation Gents, Sea master 007, Midsize Constellation, and Sea master Planet Ocean.

Omega has maintained its elevated quality and outstanding designs but not to forget their high prices. The creation of replica Omega watches are so brilliantly produced that they are exact copies of their counterparts. The fake Omega watches are available in almost all designs produced by the authentic company but the difference is their attractive sticking price. It’s unbelievable that with Omega replica watches anyone can wear attitude and style without paying a large sum of money

Fashion Accessories From the Jewelry Box

August 21, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Bracelets are still on the top of popularity this summer. So, here is a little bit tips how when and where to wear bracelets. The main rule is quite simply, big-boned women with larger wrists can wear larger bracelets and bangles whereas small-boned women can wear smaller bracelets and bangles.

It doesn’t matter which of your two wrists you wear your bracelets so long as you are not wearing a watch at the same time. If you are wearing a watch, wear your bracelet on the alternative wrist.
You can wear multiple bangles, though not multiple metals. Silver or gold, never both. When wearing multiple bangles, your arm jewelry (jewellery) becomes not only a visual piece but an auditory piece to. What we mean by this is that bangles should have a ‘music’. When multiple bangles jangle together they should produce a beautiful percussive sound.

Shoes Sandals Interesting Facts

July 21, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Probably you could hardly think about regular sandals you are wearing this hot summer day by day. But there are a lot of amazing facts I’m sure you don’t know but could be interesting for you. For instance in ancient Egypt, the sandal demonstrated a person’s rank in society. I guess today is the same situation but not in every case. In ancient Egypt slaves either went barefoot or wore crude sandals made from palm leaves. Common citizens wore sandals of made from woven papyrus and such colors as red or yellow were taboo for anyone below the aristocratic rank.

In the days of ancient Greece, aristocratic women owned as many as twenty pairs of shoes, with a style to match every occasion. Slaves were employed solely to carry a supply of their lady’s shoes when she left it at home. The Chinese custom of binding women’s feet to keep them small is many centuries old. During the middle Ages the sandal were more used as protective footwear. At the beginning of the twelfth century a shoe cut roughly from a single piece of wood, was the predominant footwear of the European peasant. In those times, the Dutch were not unusual in their use of the wooden shoe. In England, the sabot took the form of the clog, a fabric mounted on a wooden platform. In Japan, wooden shoes mounted on thin blocks three or four inches high have been worn for centuries.

Choose Sunglasses

July 6, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Summer is here and there are accessories we need the most enjoying these sunshine days. You’re right, this is sunglasses which can make your look incredible and at the same time protect your eyes against too bright summer sunrays. Actually sunglasses should be worn anytime you are outdoors. Today sunglasses have become an integral part of everyday life and fashion and modern sunglasses are as trendy as any other accessories you use to express your individuality, complete your look, and accentuate your style.

glasses from Prada
Well, white color is in favor this summer but to my opinion namely sunglasses is such accessory we should choose focusing solely on own needs, taste and sense of style but not common tendencies. How to choose it ? First of all it must be good, quality, and long-lasting pair of fashion sun glasses. Experts say that buying sunglasses with feature of blocks 99% of ultraviolet rays guaranties long-term protection your eyes from ultraviolet (UV) radiation in sunlight linked to eye disease. UVB radiation is considered more dangerous to the eyes and skin than UVA radiation. You should look for sunglasses that block 99% or 100% of all UV light. Some manufacturers’ labels say “absorption up to 400nm.” This is the same thing as 100% absorption. Wraparound glasses are shaped to keep light from shining around the frames and into your eyes. Studies show that enough UV rays enter around ordinary eyeglass frames to reduce the benefits of protective lenses. Large-framed wraparound sunglasses can protect your eyes from all angles.
